Eugene “Gene” Schneur
Gene is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of SBV RE Investments LLC, a real estate company focused on multi-family housing. From 2004 to 2023, Gene was the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Omni New York LLC and Omni America LLC, one of the top affordable housing developers in the country. Under his leadership Omni grew into a full-service real estate organization with over 800 full-time employees and acquired or developed 94 properties totaling more than 19,000 units of affordable housing, with a total transaction value of over $4 billion. Prior to founding Omni, Gene was a Mergers and Acquisitions attorney with Olshan Grundman Frome Rosenzweig & Wolosky LLP in New York.
Gene serves on the board of GrowNYC and the JDC- American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. He holds a degree from Cornell University in Industrial and Labor Relations, a J. D. from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, and is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School in New York City.
Robert J. Bennett
Rob is a Managing Director and Co-Founder at SBV and has over 25 years of experience in the affordable and subsidized housing industry.
Prior to joining SBV, Rob was a Managing Director at Omni since 2004 and led Omni New York’s acquisition of 94 properties, totaling more than 19,000 units of affordable housing, with a total transaction value of approximately $4 billion.
Prior to becoming a Managing Director at Omni, he was responsible for the acquisition of over $700 million of affordable housing investments at a national tax credit syndicator. From 1989 to 1998, Rob was Vice President at Chrysler Capital Realty, Inc., the real estate investment subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation, where he focused on tax-advantaged real estate investments. During his tenure at Chrysler, Rob played a key role in building Chrysler’s extensive portfolio of LIHTC investments. Rob received his Bachelor of Science degree from Roger Williams University.
Maurice "Mo" Vaughn
Mo is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of SBV and has been actively involved in the acquisition, rehabilitation, and management of affordable housing. Before starting SBV, Mo was a founder and managing director of Omni New York.
He is an active supporter and contributor to various community-based organizations and charities. Mo enjoyed a successful career as a major league baseball player with the Boston Red Sox, Anaheim Angels, and the New York Mets.
Additionally, he has been an All-Star multiple times, and was the 1995 American League Most Valuable Player. Mo attended Seton Hall University and is a graduate of Trinity Pawling School.
Elizabeth Moronta
Elizabeth is an Executive Vice President at SBV. Prior to joining SBV in 2023, Elizabeth was a Senior Vice President at Omni New York LLC for 12 years. While at Omni she oversaw the closing of some of the largest affordable housing transactions in the country, including River Park Towers, a 1,654 unit Mitchell-Lama property in the Bronx that was completed with all tenants-in-place, and the NYCHA PACT Brooklyn Bundle II, the largest RAD conversion in the country.
Prior to joining the firm, Elizabeth worked at Urban Upbound (fka the East River Development Alliance), a nonprofit organization that works with public housing residents to help them achieve economic mobility and self-sufficiency. Elizabeth has a Master of Urban Planning from The Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Analysis and Design from the University of California, Irvine.
Paul Shevchuk
Paul is a Senior Vice President at SBV. He is a seasoned real estate professional and is responsible for overseeing the underwriting, acquisition and development process at SBV.
Prior to joining SBV in 2023, Paul spent 10 years with Omni New York LLC where he was Assistant Vice President of Development. In his time with Omni, he coordinated the acquisition and development of over 2,000 units of affordable housing representing over $500M in investments across the United States.
Paul completed his Master’s in Real Estate Development at Columbia University (M.S.RED) in 2017 and received his B.B.A. in Real Estate Investment from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College.
Stephen DePietto
Stephen is a highly skilled and motivated real estate professional with experience in acquisitions, development and asset management across multi-family, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), industrial, office and mixed-use asset classes. Since joining SBV in 2023, Stephen has worked across numerous projects and has helped the firm continue on its trajectory of growth and success. Stephen has a strong understanding of the industry and focuses on the underwriting, acquisiton and development of assets at SBV.
Prior to joining SBV, Stephen worked for Morrison Avenue Capital Partners and BEB Capital, LLC where he focused on the acquisiton and development of multi-family, industrial and mixed-use assets throughout the Sunbelt and Northeast regions of the country.
Stephen completed his Master’s in Real Estate Development at Columbia University (M.S.RED) in 2023 and received his B.A. from Brandeis University in 2019 where he was a key member of the men’s varsity soccer team. He also attended the Berkshire school where he played on the varsity soccer and baseball teams.
Mike Castillo
Mike is currently working as Director of Site Operations at SBV. Prior to SBV Mike spent 13 years working at Omni New York LLC as an Owners Representative. Prior to working at Omni New York LLC Mike worked for the New York City Police Department for 23 Years and retired in the rank of Sergeant
